2020 started in a silent war, which is also related to the 2020 development trend of all walks of life. On January 19, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the "Opinions on Further Strengthening the Control of Plastic Pollution", prohibiting the use of Non-degradable disposable plastic products, let's talk about the development trend of plastic product manufacturers in 2020.
According to the plastic restriction order, by the end of 2020, shopping malls, supermarkets, pharmacies, bookstores and other places in the built-up areas of municipalities, provincial capitals and cities under separate planning, as well as food and beverage takeaway services and various exhibition activities, the use of non-degradable plastic bags is prohibited. And regulate and limit the use of non-degradable plastic bags in the market; by the end of 2020, the national catering industry will ban the use of non-degradable plastic bags to degrade disposable plastic straws; the built-up areas and scenic spots in cities above the prefecture level prohibit the use of non-degradable disposable plastic tableware catering services ; By the end of 2022, national star-rated hotels, hotels and other places will no longer actively provide disposable plastic products, and can provide related services by setting up self-service purchase machines and providing continuous filling detergents; before the end of 2022, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian and other postal express outlets, Guangdong and other provinces and cities will prohibit the use of non-degradable plastic packaging bags and disposable plastic woven bags in advance to reduce the use of non-degradable plastic tapes. By the end of 2025, national postal express outlets will ban the use of non-degradable plastic packaging bags, plastic tapes, and disposable plastic woven bags.
Behind the huge number of enterprises is the rising market demand. According to relevant research reports, at present, the consumption of plastic products in many industries is staggering. Taking the express delivery industry as an example, in 2018, the express delivery industry consumed more than 50 billion express waybills, about 5.3 billion woven bags, about 24.5 billion plastic bags, about 5.7 billion envelopes, about 14.3 billion packing boxes, and about 430 million tapes. million meters. Packaging tape used every year can circle the earth 1077 times.
In fact, with the improvement of environmental awareness, some leading companies are also actively seeking to reduce the use of non-degradable single-use plastic products.
Some media believe that restricting plastic products and actively looking for relevant alternatives may be the key to solving the problem. In the face of takeaway plastic lunch boxes and express packaging products, which account for a large proportion of consumption, products made of other materials will face constraints of resources, costs, profits and other factors. Based on a variety of factors, the demand for paper packaging products is expected to grow substantially from 2020 to 2025.
According to statistics, in 2019, the total production capacity of corrugated box paper for paper packaging products in my country is about 70 million tons, which is still increasing year by year; however, the consumption level has declined in recent years. After the demand for corrugated box paper peaked in 2017, consumer demand declined for two consecutive years in 2019 to about 47 million tons, down about 1.5% from 2017. It is believed that in the process of advancing the plastic restriction order, the demand for paper packaging will increase again. According to the current annual usage of 4 million tons of plastic bags and outer packaging, considering the paperless express related business and the reuse of packaging consumables, it is expected that the plastic products that can be replaced by paper packaging will account for 6% to 10% of the total plastic products in the future. The magnitude of the earthquake is about 7 million tons.
The replacement demand for wrapping paper is imminent, giving plastic product manufacturers a new challenge!
